Dugga expand to Europe with digital national tests

Dugga is a digital test platform developed in partnership with schools, teachers and students. During the autumn of 2018, the service was commercialized and won a large number of procurements in Sweden. Now they are expanding in Europe.

Dugga is a digital test platform for various types of exams, home visits, homework assignments and national tests. The service is based on a research project from 2012, which was started by Stockholm-based research company Stics Research. Later, researchers and developers participated from the Stockholm School of Economics, Stockholm University, the Royal Institute of Technology, Umeå University and the University of Nijmegen Arnhem for the development of the test platform.

The platform is developed in partnership with schools, teachers and students. It fulfills the requirements set by the National Agency for Education on digital solutions used for national testing. The prototype was funded by Vinnova in 2014 through the initiative “The Future School”. In 2016, they received an additional SEK 2.4 million in support to continue improving its functionality. Dugga is commercialized.

In June 2015, Dugga was launched on the market and tests were conducted at two schools in the City of Stockholm. Microsoft also came in as key partner shortly thereafter and helped, among other things, by financing the service through Microsoft’s cloud solution, Azure. In 2018, the service was commercialized and participated in several large successful
procurements.

To enable faster expansion throughout Europe, a collaboration with the web and software developer Fastdev has now begun. Fastdev has joined as a co-owner and helps with the development and testing of the digital platform.

We see it as very positive that Fastdev has entered as development partner and financial partner. It reduces direct costs for us, while providing us with a dedicated partner that really wants to help us, says Patrik Nilsson, CEO of Dugga and also a teacher.

Through collaboration with Fastdev, Dugga can scale its development team easily in order to adapt to peaks and valleys in work flow.

Fastdev is flexible and has very competent employees. They understand the programming and development languages that we work with. The cooperation with them is extremely positive for us, says Claudia Rademaker, operational manager at Dugga.
